I apologize for the lateness of this post, it's been a busy weekend.
On Friday night the Middletown South Football team won its 41st straight game with a 51-0 beating of Lakewood. Dave Dosil ran for 201 yards as well as punching in 5 touchdowns. Lakewood played tough the entire game even shutting the Eagles out 2 minutes into the 2nd quarter. Dosil ran that first touchdown in from 5 yards out and the floodgates opened from there. The next possession Pat Campbell threw an 87 yard touchdown pass to Brian Meeker and another Dosil score with a field goal by Matt Stahl put the Eagles up 23-0 at the half. In the second half, South continued to pile on the score with three touchdown runs by Dosil of 5, 1 and 88 yards to put the game out of reach. Ryan Mullen scampered for a 22 yard score to close out the scoring. The Eagles play a tough Toms River North in a nondivisional matchup.
The Eagles Field Hockey team improved their record to 8-2-1 with a win over Freehold Township by a score of 3-2. Lindsey Carroll, Katie Bruno and Jordan Hickman scored the Eagles’ goals.
The Boy's Soccer team lost another close game 2-1 to Marlboro High School. JJ Caruso scored South's only goal.
A the Shore Coach's Invitational the Boy's Cross Country team finished 7th in the Varsity C race. Pat Montalbano and Jay Malejki finished 29th and 30th with times of 17:29 and 17:37. Finishing 34th with a time of with a time of 17:42 was Brian Miller. Jim Geant finished 39th at 17:44. Rob George finished off the scoring for South with a 45th place finish at 17:52. Rounding out the Eagles' top 7 were John Healy and Anthony Garrido whom finshed 53rd and 83rd. Healy and Garrido came in at 18:01 and 18:58 respectively. The boy's 5-man average was an outstanding 17:41 to vault them into their 7th place finish.
The Girl's Cross Country team also ran at Shore Coach's. They finished 4th in their C division race. Isobel Graf and Lindsey Setaro finished back to back at 23rd an 24th with times of 21:14 and 21:16. Ashley Horne and Brittany Ryan came in 38th and 40th place respectively in times of 21:49 and 22:04. Carole Spoth finished 48th in 22:21 to finish off the scoring. Jamie Mastroberti and Carly Clifton came in 55th and 68th respectively to round out the team. Mastroberti and Clifton came in at times of 22:36 and 22:58. The Top 5 average for the team was 21:47.
