WRAPUP
The Eagles softball team advanced to the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group III Sectional Final with a 10-0 win over Red Bank. Senior Liza Kuhn struck out 11 while throwing a one-hitter. The defending Sectional Champion Eagles will face the winner of a game between Wall and West Windsor North on Friday.
On the track, several South athletes competed at the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group III State Sectional Meet on Saturday at Monmouth Regional High School. On the boys side, junior Scott Simonson placed fifth in the high jump by clearing 5' 10". Senior Andrew Valkos tied for third place by jumping 12' 6" in the pole vault and junior Stan Pastercyzk took fourth in the long jump with a jump of 19' 11".
For the girls team, senior Casie Dominach took third in the pole vault with 9 feet flat. Sophomore Annmarie Vuono took sixth in the javelin with a throw of 104'. Senior Kirsten Anderson took sixth with a time of 11:52 in the 3200 meter race.
All the athletes that qualified will compete Friday and Saturday at the Group III Championships in South Plainfield.

DANNY BOY
Junior Dan Biancaniello's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning put the Eagles over Toms River East 5-4 in the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament. Freshman Howie Brey pitched seven innings before handing it off to sophomore Will Siegfried, who picked up the win in relief. South will play CBA on Saturday in the second round. UNLUCKY SEVENTH DOOMS EAGLES
Six runs in the seventh inning vaulted Ocean over Middletown South in the first round of the Monmouth County Tournament by a score of 9-6.
Trailing 5-3 in the top of the seventh, the Spartans knocked 6 hits, recorded two walks, and sent 12 batters to the plate. Senior Neil Yaffe drove in two runs to tie the game, and scored the go-ahead run on a single by junior Tim Henry.
Yaffe finished 2-3 with 3 stolen bases. Junior Chris Roskey went 2-4 with a d double and two runs scored while senior Sean Goodwin added a home run in the second inning for Ocean.
