Eagles streak reaches 40

The Middletown South Football team extended their Shore Conference record winning streak to 40 straight games with a win over Wall 20-7. South started off the scoring with an interception return for a touchdown by junior Josh Matthews in the first two minutes of the game. Junior quarterback Pat Campbell ran for 76 yards on 17 carries to help lead the Eagles. The stingy defense allowed only 1 yard in the first half and prevented the Knights from achieving a first down until late in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles will play Lakewood at the Swamp next week.

The field hockey team defeated the Howell Rebels by a score of 1-0 yesterday. Beth McLaughlin scored the goal in the 45th minute while the Eagles stopped 8 shots to shut out the Rebels.

The boy’s soccer team lost a tough game to CBA 2-1. The Colts jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Mike Razzoli in the 54th minute. Tony DiMaria sent the game into overtime with a goal in the 70th minute but the Eagle’s defense allowed Razzloli to put another shot in the goal for the victory. The win was CBA coach Dan Keene’s 400th of his career and brought the Colt’s record to 4-5-1. The Eagles’ record drops to 1-6-2.
