The Spillane Era at Middletown South started off with a bang. The bang came off the bat of senior Mike Farrell on a first inning grand slam as the Eagles went on to beat Manalapan 9-5.
Sophomore Will Siegfried took the ball for South and went four innings, allowing four runs while striking out three. Junior Steve Macri gave up one run in relief before junior Greg Tognan pitched two scoreless innings for the save.
Farrell finished 1-3 with 5 RBI's while junior Craig Sweeney went 2-3 at the plate to get new head coach Ryan Spillane his first victory.
