MULLAN LEADS EAGLES OVER JACKSON LIBERTY

Jackson Liberty hung with Middletown South through the first quarter, but the Eagles pulled away with 20 points in the second period.

Senior Ryan Mullen had his breakout game in his first season as the starting quarterback by throwing two long touchdown passes.

South started off the scoring in the second quarter with a short plunge to the endzone by senior Matt Martino. Martino’s score was set up by a 60 yard run by sophomore Andrew Suarez. That combination combined again when Suarez brought the ball inside the five-yard line to set up another Martino touchdown.

Suarez finally found the endzone himself when he hooked up with Mullan for a 60 yard catch and run with less than two minutes left in the first half to put the Eagles up 20-0.

Mullan hit senior Mike Farrell with a 40 yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to cap off South’s second win of the season to improve to 2-1.
